Born in Rio de Janeiro to a Dutch father and a Romanian mother, Dominique's multicultural childhood contributed to her early appreciation of diverse artistic expressions. From a young age she has been traveling to distant places, always on the lookout for new forms of beauty and inspiration, from Mexico and the United States, to Italy and China. She currently lives between the Netherlands and Israel. Her love of art has been translated into a strong passion for photography, graphic design, acrylic sculpting and glasswork

Her glassworks, including all the items in this collection, are uniquely designed piece by piece, created with strong precision and careful color placement. The composition is made through a process of 'sandwiching' multiple layers of opaque and transparent colored glass, after which the assemblage is melted and the pieces fused together. One item is distinguished from another by its distinctive color patterns, which will often change depending on different light angles.

Dominique studied visual arts at the Autonomous University of Mexico, and later moved to the United States where she focused on improving her glasswork techniques. Her glass sculptures as well as her other works have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, and she is also the recipient of prestigious awards – at the Glass Salon in Mexico City (1980) and at the National Meeting of Young Artists in Aguascalientes (1981).
